Communications technology is changing so fast that users may be forgiven for thinking that today's
purchase will be tomorrow's mistake. At Polaris Telecoms, we recognise these concerns and advise
our clients in clear and uncomplicated terms, minimising jargon wherever possible.
By specialising in 2 types of business phone systems, pure IP telephony (internet protocol) and hybrid telephone systems (standard analogue; ISDN; and IP), Polaris can offer all of the cost and operating advantages of both traditional and new technology, whilst reassuring clients that their investment is "future proofed". The new technology will almost certainly reduce the cost of ownership of telephone systems.
In general terms, this new IP telephony is known as "VoIP" - voice over internet
protocol. This is the technology used to transmit voice conversations over a data network and
across the internet using broadband.
IP telephone system technology, in one form or another, has been adopted by all the world's main system
manufacturers. Nobody makes dedicated analogue switchboards any more. The Internet has revolutionised the development of voice transmission technology, bringing it into the digital world and driving it towards converged communications (voice, mobile, fax, SMS text, video-conferencing, e-mail, etc.) all running off the same data platform.
BT recognised these trends and have embarked on a £10 billion project - 21CN - to IP enable their entire network, the first national carrier to adopt this strategy. This will be finished by 2010 and will completely change the way in which BT deliver their services.
VoIP is now mainstream!
If you are thinking of investing in a new telephone system, contact Polaris to explore all of the economic and operating benefits of the latest technology.
